Wellness is more than being happy and healthy. It is an active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health (Definition by Global Wellness Institute). Wellness is not a passive or static state but rather an “active pursuit” that is associated with intentions, choices and actions as we work toward an optimal state of health and wellbeing. Further, wellness is linked to holistic health—that is, it extends beyond physical health and incorporates many different dimensions that should work in harmony.
Wellness is an act of practicing habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes. Wellness encompasses 8 mutually interdependent dimensions. These are key areas of our lifestyle which directly impact our lives. Renowned Educator and Influencer Alex Brogan has described these 8 dimensions. This new year, let Wellness be a thing of priority.

Physical Wellness
• A healthy and balanced diet is beginning of Wellness. Diet plan need not be a fancy or expensive one. Minor modifications in ‘what’ you eat and ‘when’ you eat can help you a lot.
• Workout 3-5 times in a week. You can start from simple exercises.
• Proper sleep is must. Minimum 7 hours sleep is needed for recovery.
• Pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness, especially oral hygiene.
• Keep a watch on your health parameters. Fix a day to do that- your birthday, some festival, New Year day etc.
Emotional Wellness
• Find time for yourself. Practice deep breathing, meditation, or yoga.
• Don’t let negative emotions stagnate. Talk to family, friend or even a counsellor if needed.
• Express yourself. Write, draw, or talk to a trusted friend.
• Give some time for hobbies and activities that you really enjoy.
Intellectual Wellness
• Keep learning new things every day. It can be reading, watching, listening, or doing something.

• Communicate meaningfully. Be a thoughtful listener.
• Be kind and compassionate to others.
Spiritual Wellness
• Your value system matters. Take time to reflect on your values.
• Be present in the moment. Practice mindfulness.
• Perform activities that bring you inner calmness, like meditation or some art form.
• Connect with Nature and appreciate its beauty.
• If you have found a spiritual leader or mentor, take their help for support.
Environmental Wellness
• Consciously reduce your carbon footprint- Conserve energy and water.
• Do something for the environment
• Use eco-friendly products

Well written. Even though the 8 dimensions are not in any particular order or rank I feel Financial wellness could go to third place below Physical and Emotional wellness given how it affects others like social wellness, emotional, etc.

Very nice and true sir. We casually say I am well or I am fine, if someone asks How are you.. but if we ask ourselves this on the basis of above parameters, we can make actual progress.👌
